How We Work
The Tommy Maddox Foundation strives to achieve our mission of supporting and encouraging disadvantaged kids:
- Through supporting and working with other charitable organizations that share our goals and mission to help kids.
- By working directly with kids through mentoring, camps and other activities, so we can serve as a leadership example to the community and directly experience the difference we are making in kids' lives.
Working with Alliance Organizations
In order to best use our time and donors' contributions - and to avoid significant overhead and cost redundancies - we evaluate like-minded organizations that already have the staff and infrastructure in place to support existing youth programs, special events and fundraising activities. We continuously evaluate these alliance organizations based on our criteria for support - i.e. their passion for kids, commitment to Christian principles, responsible stewardship of donor resources, demonstrated impact on kids' lives, support network, staff quality, facilities, etc.
Once selected, we then work with these organizations to best leverage the direct, personal involvement of our staff - including Tommy Maddox himself - and any other resources we are uniquely capable of enlisting (i.e. resources that these chosen alliance organizations would not otherwise have been able to engage without our direct involvement or assistance).
Working directly with kids
Working directly with kids through mentoring, camps and other activities is essential and important to us. Not only is it important for us to serve as a leadership example to our community, but it brings us joy and encouragement to know we can give back and help provide meaningful support that makes a positive difference in a child's life.
Further, our direct involvement with kids and foundation-sponsored activities enables us to more deeply engage our sponsors and donors so they can benefit from both the public recognition of their contributions and the direct experience of what their support means to us, the kids and alliance organizations we work with to make a difference in our communities.
